Ranch-Eros Farm: Close Encounters with Animals

By mycountry In The Greeks, Travel

If you visit the small village of Agia Anna in the north part of Evia Island, keep in mind that there are various ways to explore the area depending on the one -or ones- you prefer. Either you want to walk or hire a bike it is very easy to go around as it is a flat place. And if you are a little more selective - concerning your bike tastes - you can rent a handmade coco-mat bike.
In case you are a bit more adventurous, you can go some steps further, to the Ranch-Eros Farm -The Animal Friends of Ranch-Eros Association- and ask for a horse ride. It is for sure that the moment you get into the ranch it is difficult to decide to leave, as it is a perfect, cool place in the forest with the horses, the dogs the rooster and the cat strolling around.
And when - at last! – you decide to go on that horse riding and leave the little paradise behind, the look by the donkey Barbaroula can keep you there for a little longer. But you have to be strong, as the ride compensates you for everything you leave behind. First, you follow a path through the forest, then you go along the beach, again in the forest and through a little field and after 45 minutes back to the ranch to continue socializing with the animals by feeding, grooming, talking or just looking at them!
Any question can be answered by the ranch keeper, Miss Nancy Kourellou who takes care of the horses which –worth mentioning- were sometime in the past found abandoned, and her sister Deppie Kourellou who constantly cares for the well-being of any animal in need.
