The Folk Museum in Folegandros, is a quaint museum. In fact is a representative sample of a traditional farm of the 19th century, called “themonia” by the locals. It’s a unique place which displays life,history and civilization of the island.
“Themonia” : Agricultural house, a complex of small buildings, yard, garden oil-press, barn, cistern that assured the full economic autonomy of the people living there. Everything necessary for food and living was produced in those units. The products could cover the needs of a large family and their animals. Until the mid of 20th century most of those houses were still in use.
Households items, clothes, furniture from several eras paraphernalia of past lives are displayed in a way to introduce you to the everyday life on the island in the past.
The Folk Museum is found at the entrance of Ano Meria.
